Am I the only one who finds the title of Al Gore’s new book, The Assault on Reason vastly, almost cosmically ironic?

I read the excerpt Time posted and I was a bit divided. I sure can’t disagree about people being too media-driven and influenced these days, and I also can’t disagree that people are getting pretty nihilistic and not really interested in understanding each other anymore.

But… it’s Al Gore. It’s all well and good for him to say ‘it’s not all Bush’s fault, but his old boss helped invent the current polling climate, and Gore himself hasn’t been all that much of a stranger to taking advantage of peoples’ emotions.

So, meh.
