1-AA Appalachian St. 34, Michigan 32 (in the Big House, no less.)

Crack.

Me.

UP!!!!

Not quite sure how they won. Mich outgained AState 481-388, had 4 more first downs and had 2 turnovers to the Mountaineers 3. The only stat that I can see where AState did better (except the score, of course) is that AState did much better in kickoff returns, and had better yardage on INT returns, and Edwards, the AState QB, did toss 3 TD passes, while Big Blue had only one tossed TD. Of course, blocking Big Blue’s final field goal attempt also helps. . .

But still.

The Four Letter recap. (Check the video link and watch the faces of the Wolverine faithful.  Absolutely priceless looks of shock and dismay.)

The Big Lead notes that no 1-AA team has beaten a ranked 1-A team since records on this sort of minutiae started being tracked in 1978. Big Blue coach Lloyd Carr needs to get some scavenger repellant, as the buzzards will be circling his carcass for the rest of the season. If Ohio State beats Michigan this year, Carr may well be done.
