And that's the difference. The Republican Party thinks this is their government, their government to manipulate, corrupt, and break down. Democrats know that this is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Not bought by lobbyists, not bought by donors, not existing to prop up the rich nor built to ignore the poor. It is ours, our government to hold accountable, and our government to change come midterm elections.
Render me speechless.
Seriously. This is my favorite part: Democrats know that this is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
This from the same party that denies rights to the most innocent among us.
This from the same party that used government to first promote and then hide the abusive and misogynist behavior of its hero president, Bill "Just smoke that cigar" Clinton.
The same party that delayed flights and sucked up tax dollars so this same President could get a haircut before take-off.
Not bought by lobbyists, not bought by donors, This is a first-class self-delusion.
not existing to prop up the rich nor built to ignore the poor. Well, I MIGHT buy the bit about the rich, but you better believe that the Democrats have a vested interest in keeping the poor poor. It's their saving vote bloc, especially amongst blacks. And if that were to change, you better believe too that the Dems will lose some if not most of their totemic black vote. They LOVE the idea of continued enabling of the poor in the form of entitlements. Makes them look charitable, and eases the conscience of the super-rich, (who are ALSO Democrat). For more on these last few ideas, go see Indian Cowboy's read on a possible shift in black voting patterns.
Look. I'm not defending Republicans here. I'm an Independent, have been for over 15 years (and it sure ain't changing anytime soon). But Kos does NOTHING to seriously address the morass of back-biting and ankle-snapping that passes for policy debate in this country. All they are good for is demonizing Republicans.
Demonizing is simple. Turning any group into Emmanuel Goldstein is the easiest, cheapest political trick in the book. Any hack can demonize.
But as far as providing real solutions? I'd read Indian Cowboy, Suicide of the West, The Anchoress and even RightWingNuthouse first.
